Hitler Youth

The purpose of the the next lesson in the course is to allow students to discover the role of the Hitler Youth within Nazi Germany.  The development of this lesson was influenced by the USHMM online exhibit State of Deception: The Power of Nazi Propaganda.  This lesson takes one full block, from bell to bell, to complete.  All materials listed (minus direct technology) are listed below.  At the conclusion of this lesson, students are given a quiz.

Core Lesson Concept:  In this lesson, students are tasked with exploring the development and impact of the Hitler Youth within Nazi Germany.  Using the previous day's lesson on propaganda as a lead-in, students further explore propaganda and other materials targeting the youth of Nazi Germany.  Students interact individually with the State of Deception online exhibit before viewing "Heil Hitler: Confessions of a Nazi Youth".   The alternate handout/activity was created by USHMM Teacher Fellow & NC English Teacher, Laurie Schaefer. I have since switching to using that as my primary activity.
